Childline Mon 1098 inaugurated in Mon in collaboration with John 3:16 Society

CHILDLINE Mon in collaboration with John 3:16 Society was inaugurated by DC Mon, Thavaseelan K as chief guest on October 16, 2020.

childline-numberCHILDLINE 1098 is a service of Ministry of Women and Child Development. Childline India Foundation is a non-government organisation in India that operates a telephone helpline called Childline, for children in distress. It was India’s first 24-hour, toll free, phone outreach service for children.

A press release by Childline Mon coordinator, Eunice Thalih stated that, DC stressed that Childline Mon can play a very crucial role as Mon district had maximum number of children working outside the state as domestic helpers. District welfare official Mon, Khuppao Hengna spoke on the importance of Childline as it was the specified agency to work for the protection of children. Additional superintendent of Police, Longpok Lemtur also assured to provide assistance from the police in any activities and cases related.

Others who spoke included Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) president, Lomei and Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairman Tuishimla Konyak.

Earlier, inauguration programme was dedicated by Rev. N. Sheipa KBBB (retd), welcome address by Childline Mon coordinator, Eunice Thalih, where she informed that DC was also the chairman of the Child Advisory Board (CAB) which will be constituted and intimidated to different officers and stakeholders for close collaboration.

CHILDLINE Mon 1098 will be active 24×7 to rescue the child in need of help. The team will respond to the call within 60 minutes.
